Secretary-General of the United Nation, Ban Ki-Moon, has this week talked publicly about his concerns regarding recent incidents in the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh.

The UN reported that the Secretary-General had urged Armenian and Azerbaijani forces to avoid any acts of violence and to respect the ceasefire agreement previously established between the two sides.

Ban also stated his support for recent peace efforts made by international groups like the OSCE Minsk Group in the internationally unrecognized republic.

The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict has been a long-standing issue in the South Caucasus that recently began to make international headlines again after violent escalations left several dead on both sides.
