An LGBT rights activist and member of the Nefes LGBT Alliance has this month been subject to persecution and violent attacks after attending the group’s recent LGBT/Gender Forum.
The Individual, who remains anonymous to protect them from further harm, was attacked by their own parents, who attempted to burn them alive with gasoline. As well as the burn attacks the individual, currently going by the pseudonym MN, was subject to physical attacks that left signs of abuse on their body.
The attacks came after MN was blackmailed by an anonymous person on Facebook, who threatened to share pictures of MN at Nefes’ LGBT/Gender forum, which was held on July 23rd.
When news of MN’s attendance reached their family the individual was subjected to violent abuse as well as having their passport and papers taken away.
Nefes has stated that MN is now in safe hands but are calling for support from the LGBT community in a hope that the anonymous individual can be rehoused and kept safe soon.
