Georgia’s Minister of Agriculture has this week stated that Georgia will not join the US/EU backed sanctions against Russia in response to Russia’s recent actions in Ukraine.

The sanctions, which are currently being enforced by the US and the EU, are aiming to punish Russia for its actions in Ukraine, which many western powers see as a breach of international law.

Georgia however has stated that it will not enforce any sanctions upon Russia, despite its close ties to the EU. Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili recent expressed a desire to increase exports to Russia with aims to benefit the economy of his country.
