Rostov Oblast hunger-strikes go ignored say protesters

Protests in the Rostov Oblast town of Zverevo are claiming that an ongoing hunger-strike has been ignored by local and regional authorities.

The hunger-strike began earlier this month when ten residents of the North Caucasus town demanding that local authorities continue payments of housing and communal services which had been suspended earlier in the year.

Protests began in a conventional manner, but residents resorted to an endless hunger-strike after they felt their demands went ignored.

As well as hunger-strikes protesters are also talking with members of the police force and local government in an attempt to have the town’s civil amenities restored.
